How To Pick Relevant And Profitable Keywords For Amazon PPC Campaigns

Picking relevant keywords for your PPC campaigns can make a significant impact on your sales & profit margin.

How do you perform thorough keyword research for your Amazon products to ensure the highest success?

At DigitFruition, we use H10 Cerebro Tool to identify and find, super-relevant keywords that we can use for our Amazon PPC campaigns.

But what are the filters that you should apply to filter down that big list of keywords to only relevant keywords?

First of all, we take ASINS of 5-10 direct competitors for our product and then we pull up the results to find keywords where they are ranking high on.

It's really important to here to select the closest competitors that clearly resemble or align with your offer or product.

E.g. You are selling a handheld sewing machine, the price point varies from the regular sewing machines.

In that case, you would want to consider looking up only competitors that sell a handheld one, at a similar price point.

All of this can be achieved with H10 Cerebro Tool.

When H10 spits out a huge list of keywords, which could be into thousands or tens of thousands of keywords, then the time comes to apply the following filters:

1. Search Volume > 200

If the niche is big enough, we avoid looking at keywords that won't have a lot of impact on our sales.

However, we still set the "Search Volume" to greater than 200 as we might find great, specific keywords that will have a high CVR upon launching them in our Amazon PPC campaigns.

2. Ranking Competitors - 9 out of 10.

We want to narrow down the list of keywords where 9 competitors are ranking on them.

If only 1 or 2 competitors appear high on SERPs, but the rest of your direct competitors are falling flat on those keywords, then it is probably not a relevant keyword.

But when 9 competitors are ranking high on a particular keyword, it's a great sign that they are truly relevant keywords to your product.

There is also a huge chance that you have a lot of potential to make sales off these keywords and establish a high organic position, as an end result.

Thus, you should highly consider implementing them in your business and marketing strategy as well.

3. Competitor Rank (Avg) - from 0 to 20

This filter is really important since we want to purely focus on keywords where our competitors are ranking high in the search results (on average).

Now there might be 1 or 2 competitors that are ranking lower down the page, but the rest of your competitors (7 or 8) still make up for a good average ranking.

Be aware that it doesn't mean that every competitor is ranking in 1-20 organic position. It actually means that all of them combined are showing up relatively high on SERPs.

Without this filter, you would be looking at a whole plethora of keywords that are most likely not relevant, yet not able to describe your product well.

As a result, you could be wasting money and throwing money down the drain. Eventually, setting up your business for failure.
